Since 2011, PAFID has delivered 8 high-impact programmes spanning Climate Smart Agriculture, women's economic empowerment, youth entrepreneurship, and clean energy — across diverse agro-ecological zones in Kenya and the broader East Africa region. Empowering Vulnerable Women Through Finance & Mechanization
Global Affairs Canada Climate Risk Institute · EDM KES 2,000,000

Delivered through the Expert Deployment Mechanism (EDM) of the Climate Risk Institute in partnership with Climate Action Africa and Alinea International, this project created groundwork for vulnerable women to access agricultural insurance and mechanization, producing 5 key implementation documents.

Project Green Up Kenya
EDF · Benevolent Fund · TEOA KES 20,000,000

Supporting 111 vulnerable rural households — 70% women — with climate-smart solar irrigation pumps to strengthen food security and improve livelihoods. Feasibility and technical studies completed, paving the way for full deployment.

2020 – 2023
Farm to Market Alliance Programme (FtMA)
World Food Programme USD 2,000,000

Across 13 counties, trained 100,000+ smallholder farmers in CSA, converted 30,000+ acres to Conservation Agriculture, planted 1M+ trees, and delivered an average 30% increase in yields and incomes. Created entrepreneurship pathways for women and youth.

2017 – 2021
Regional Climate Smart Agriculture Programme (RCSAP)
CFU Zambia NORAD USD 950,000

NORAD-funded regional programme across Kenya, Uganda & Tanzania. Trained 20,000+ farmers across drought-prone Eastern Kenya, mentoring 1,000 lead farmers and 30 CSOs for sustained CA adoption beyond the programme period.

2012 – 2014
Market Assistance Programme (MAP)
Kenya Markets Trust USD 350,000

Boosted smallholder cotton farmer incomes by commercializing CA mechanized land preparation, integrating CA across commercial platforms, and training spray service providers for cost-effective service delivery.

2011 – 2015
Conservation Agriculture Regional Programme (CARP)
CFU Zambia · COMESA · Norway USD 3,900,000

PAFID's flagship CA programme across 11 counties. Trained 100,000+ farmers; 25,000 adopted CA on 30,000+ acres. Built capacity of 2,000 lead farmers and empowered 40 mechanization service providers with CA rippers.

Empowered youth to participate in leadership, governance, and economic life through entrepreneurship training and capacity building of youth institutions and civil society organizations.

Implemented Conservation Agriculture across two sub-counties in Busia County, contributing to reduced poverty and improved living standards for rural farming households in Western Kenya.
